How long has this been a thing for you?

If you’re like most of the women I work with, these are same thoughts you have every day. You’ve been having them for years. They’ve become the soundtrack in your head.

They sound something like this;

  • Boy I really need to get serious
  • I’ve got to lose this weight
  • What’s the matter with me?
  • Why can’t I get my shit together?
  • If I could just lose #20 (or whatever) I’d be happy.

Except when it’s in the front of your mind, and really giving yourself a beat down for not having done anything about it yet. Usually after a party, vacation, or trip to the dressing room to try on clothes.

Then it sounds more strident and cruel;

  • I know what to do, why can’t I just DO it???
  • I’ve really left myself go, I disgust myself.
  • If I don’t get this under control soon, it’s going to be too late.
  • I’m such a pig
  • I’t’s not my fault, my metabolism sucks.

Energetically speaking, when this is the soundtrack in your head it’s going to be the reality you create.

First off, thinking these thoughts creates feelings of depression and sadness, which generally leads to comfort eating and drinking events.

And if comfort eating and drinking solved the problem of overweight, we’d all be a lot thinner…

Start with changing your mindset…(you never really needed a diet at all…that was just the knee-jerk response you used before you knew better).

This is different than fantasizing about seeing a particular number on the scale, or trying to imagine how it would feel to be at your ideal weight… ‘cuz how the heck can you do that if you’ve never been there or it’s been decades since you have?

You don’t need sticky notes on the mirror or mantras to say 99 times per day.

This is more about getting clear on what achieving your result will do for you? Why do you want it so bad?

What’s the real reason?

That’s what you really want.

It never was about a specific number on the scale, it’s what you think having that number will do for you.

You want pride, joy, the feeling of accomplishment, the increased energy.

You probably also want to feel great in your clothes, have a spring in your step, maybe just sleep through the night and wake up without stiffness in all of your joints.
