Social distancing, flattening the curve….toilet paper shortages???
2020 and the Corona virus, what an enormous smack down on this promising new decade.
As everything in our personal bubble;
- our entertainment,
- our exercise routines,
- our eating habits,
- our schools
- and our travel plans
Is being disrupted. Anxiety is running high.
My husband even admitted (and he’s a notoriously chill dude) that he noticed a bit of a sore throat this morning…and instantly thought “Corona virus”.
He realized that even he was caught up in the hysteria.
I’m hearing people say; they feel so out of control.Their entire world is upside down.
What’s the solution?
First, take a big step back from the news and social media that is freaking you out.
(My chill husband…he watches the news every morning. He might need to step back.)
Next, you know how to wash your hands for 20 seconds and avoid touching your face, do this a LOT.
Finally, you’re creative and resourceful; if you had to find a solution to each of your problems, one at a time, how would you do it?
What if this whole thing is an ginormous opportunity to reconnect at a human level with the things that are most important to you?
A chance to exercise your creativity and solve problems in a novel way?
What if you weren’t anxious?
What would you be doing?
How can you lift up those around you? Be an example of what is possible?
Anxious is a feeling.
Feelings are created by our thoughts.
Corona virus isn’t making you anxious…your thoughts about Corona virus are making you anxious.
We are blessed with all the inventions of our modern world, and the internet is freaking amazing.
What better time to have a global pandemic?
At least we are “connected” to almost every other human on this planet.
We have online schools, classes, social interaction.
You may be physically isolated, but you’re definitely not alone.
Ask your brain “what’s possible”, or “what can I do to make today better” and see how much better you’ll feel.
As for the toilet paper situation…okay, I’m not sure what to say about that…
Just that humans have been on this planet a lot longer than we’ve had toilet paper…or the Sears catalog, so we can figure that out, too.
My fall back will be the big stack of wash cloths I’ve accumulated from buying my hand towels at Costco…
Plus, I’ve got laundry detergent…and there are way bigger problems in the world besides toilet paper.
If you need someone to talk to, someone to help you come down from the anxiety ledge… I’d love to help.
